Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer – Laboratory

We are looking for committed and technically focused Principal or Senior Engineering Geologist to join our growing team and take on a leading role in the development of a team delivering engineering-focused ground models to help de-risk offshore windfarms.

The successful candidate will become a core technical lead at Geowynd and will deliver the highest quality supervision and interpretation of geotechnical laboratory testing in collaboration with the geotechnical engineering team. The Senior or Principal Laboratory Engineer will be responsible for approval & interpretation of laboratory test data, supervision of laboratory engineers and technicians, and client liaison for laboratory testing projects.

What will you do:

    • Supervising and performing advanced laboratory testing and ensuring tests are performed to the highest possible standard;

    • Processing, checking and approving data from advanced laboratory tests;

    • Providing quality assurance of test results to ensure that the highest possible quality data set is provided to our clients;

    • Acting as a technical leader for offshore geotechnical analysis, interpretation, and design projects. Preparing, checking and reviewing a wide range of geotechnical documents with a focus on offshore windfarms;

    • Leading technical tenders for advanced laboratory testing and interpretation projects;

    • Developing a network of business and technical contacts to promote the growth of the advanced laboratory and interpretation group;

    • Mentoring of early-to-mid career team members;

    • Liaising with other technical leads within the Geowynd Analytics and Advice team to ensure technical synergies with the laboratory team;

    • Representing Geowynd at technical conferences and participating in the publication of high-quality industry leading, peer-reviewed research and design case studies with the aim of promoting the business and improving the knowledge within the overall sector;

    • Complying with Geowynd management system policies, practices, programs, and procedures.

    • Supporting Geowynd’s environmental and social goals.

Who you are:

    • An excellent understanding of soil mechanics;

    • Excellent planning and organisation skills required for our fast-paced environment;

    • An innovative and creative approach to problem solving;

    • Excellent report writing and presentation skills and an ability to summarise complex information to nontechnical project stakeholders;

    • Experience in the execution and/ or interpretation of advanced laboratory testing;

    • A PhD or Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering (or similar);

    • Thoughtful, thorough and conscientious;

    • Interested in others and strives for the best for the team;

    • Ability to take ownership and engagement in the work;

    • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment;
