We are looking for committed and technically focused Principal or Senior Engineering Geologist to join our growing team and take on a leading role in the development of a team delivering engineering-focused ground models to help de-risk offshore windfarms. Geowynd is recruiting a Principal or Senior Engineering Geologist.

The successful candidate will become a core technical lead at Geowynd, within the Ocean Infinity Group, and be responsible for leading the delivery of technical work packages related to the development of optimised ‘fit for purpose’ ground models for offshore renewable projects. The Principal or Senior Engineering Geologist will provide their valued input to all stages of offshore wind developments from project feasibility, through site investigation, into detailed design and throughout operations. We are looking for an ambitious ground modelling specialist with an innovative mindset to help deliver our industry-leading data analytics and advice service offering.

Work location: UK, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Singapore, Romania or US

What will you do:

    • Lead the development of 3D ground models integrating geological, geophysical, and geotechnical data;

    • Act as technical lead for delivery of seismic interpretation;

    • Act as technical lead for delivery of geological interpretation and geological settings;

    • Act as technical lead for geohazard identification activities;

    • Lead the technical aspects of proposals/bids for ground modelling scopes of work;

    • Develop your network of business and technical contacts to promote the growth of the ground modelling service offering;

    • Mentor of early-to-mid career team members;

    • Work collaboratively with our dedicated geo-software team to develop state-of-the-art analysis, interpretation and methods/tools;

    • Collaborate within Geowynd, and our parent company Ocean Infinity, to develop integrated innovative geosolutions from site assessment to foundation detailed design;

    • Represent Geowynd at technical conferences and participate in the publication of high-quality industry leading, peer-reviewed research and design case studies with the aim of promoting the business and improving the knowledge within the overall sector;

    • Comply with Geowynd management system policies, practices, programs, and procedures;

    • Support the Geowynd and Ocean Infinity environmental and social goals.

Who you are:

    • An excellent understanding of engineering geology and geophysics;

    • Experience in the use of IHS Kingdom software for seismic interpretation and 3D ground modelling;

    • Extensive experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software (e.g. ArcGIS);

    • A demonstrable experience acting as the technical authority for the development of 3D ground models;

    • Excellent report writing and presentation skills and an ability to summarise complex information to nontechnical project stakeholders;

    • Excellent planning and organisation skills required for our fast-paced environment;

    • An innovative and creative approach to problem solving;

    • A PhD or Master’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geophysics or other related subject;

    • Preferred minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience of engineering geology and ground model development, ideally within offshore wind projects;

    • Strong leadership skills;

    • Strong interpersonal and people management skills;

    • Strong communication skills;

    • Critical thinking and ability to show initiative;

    • An open and receptive response to new and different ideas.

Desirable:

    • Chartership with the Geological Society of London (GSL);

    • A good understanding of foundation design and key geotechnical considerations;

    • Cable routing experience;

    • Experience in the use of GIS to perform analysis using geodata, for example, slope stability analysis, foundation weight maps, cable burial risk assessments etc.
